A Bedtime in December

Rubbing eyes, arms raised

It’s time for bed

Hugging and swaying

In the light of the Christmas tree

Heavy heads rested on one another

I need him, he needs me

Peace at the end of an imperfect day

“Goodnight Bubs”

I lay him down facing the twinkling lights

“Peppa!” he exclaims as I hand him the lamb in overalls

The sun-dressed pig still sitting in the basket
